Athletic Training Internship
Athletic Training Overview :: Athletic Trainers :: Athletic Training Internship
UHZ Sports Medicine Institute has helped educate and provide real-life experiences to college students at the University of Miami, Florida International University, and Barry University since 1999. This clinical rotation is part of their required practical experience for their accredited athletic training education programs. Our program provides unique training within the UHZ physician's clinic, as well as the orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation facility at Doctors Hospital. Athletic training students are able to work directly with certified athletic trainers, physician assistants, and orthopedic surgeons.
During their internship, the athletic training students are supervised by an approved clinic instructor. They will learn to sharpen their injury evaluation skills by being exposed to a variety of injuries of the knee, shoulder, ankle and elbow. Interns also observe orthopedic surgeries and become familiar with the interpretations of X-rays and MRIs.
The internship also helps prepare student trainers for the athletic trainer certification exam and creates a foundation for the start of their careers.
