Gautam P. Yagnik, M.D., is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee.
Dr. Yagnik directs UHZ Sports Medicine Institute's new location at the Baptist West Kendall Hospital. He was recently appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Florida International University College of Medicine. He previously served as Assistant Team Physician for the University Miami and Florida International University. He now serves as Assistant Team Physician for the NHL's Florida Panthers. He also serves as the medical director for the Escape from Miami Triathlon and the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Beach Half Marathons.
Dr. Yagnik earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated at the top of his class and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. During medical school, he performed surgical research that yielded two prestigious grants from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Yagnik completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, he was elected administrative chief resident and was given the Willard Award for the most outstanding resident. Dr. Yagnik completed his sports medicine fellowship at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute.
