Outcomes Research

Outcomes research seeks to measure and understand the results of healthcare practices. Outcomes data include patient satisfaction, changes in the daily activities of patients and their ability to function, as well as their general clinical experience. Historically, researchers have relied primarily on biomedical measures, such as the results of laboratory tests, to determine whether a surgical or other intervention was necessary and successful. Researchers have discovered that when they use only these measures, they miss many of the outcomes that matter most to patients.

By linking the care people receive to the outcomes they experience, outcomes research can help doctors develop better ways to monitor and improve the quality of care. UHZ Sports Medicine Institute is dedicated to pioneering new methods of collecting and interpreting patient outcomes data.
